Why Ledgerly Exists

Ledgerly didn't start with a plan to build another accountancy firm.

It started with a simple question:

What would an accountancy firm look like if I built it the way I believed it should be run?

After more than 13 years in accountancy practice, including seven years as a VAT Manager overseeing 250+ clients, I had seen the good, the bad and everything in between.

I saw how valuable a good accountant can be when they genuinely understand a business. But I also saw how easily accountancy can become centred around deadlines, preparing the accounts, submitting the tax returns and then waiting until next year.

I wanted to build something different.

Built around a few simple principles:

Know the business.
Understand what you do, where you're going and what matters to you.

Be involved.
Don't just appear at year-end. Be there throughout the year.

Make the numbers useful.
Give you information that helps you understand and run your business.

Take work off your plate.
Handle the financial workload so you can focus on running the business.

Build a relationship.
You should know who your accountant is, and they should know you.

More Than Just Compliance

Accountancy should feel personal.

Your business isn't just a set of accounts.

It's something you've built, invested your time into and worked hard to grow.

That's why we don't want Ledgerly to feel like a service you only hear from when a deadline is approaching.

We work alongside you throughout the year, helping keep your financial affairs organised and your numbers up to date.

Where appropriate, we'll come into your environment, understand how your business works and work with you to take the financial workload off your shoulders.

The aim is simple:

Give you the support, information and confidence to spend less time worrying about your accounts, and more time running your business.

Your Accountant Should Know Your Business

It's easy for an accountant to know your turnover, profit and tax position.

It's much more valuable for them to understand why those numbers look the way they do.

How does your business make money?

What are you trying to achieve?

What challenges are you facing?

What's coming next?

The better we understand your business, the more useful the numbers become — and the more useful the conversations around them can be.

An accountant who knows your numbers is useful.
An accountant who knows your business is far more valuable.
